Get the contract signed before you start.

Send a contract, change order or estimate acceptance for signature straight from the job. Trusso fills in your terms from the record, your customer signs on their phone, and the signed PDF files itself back where the work lives — no printing, no chasing, no separate signing subscription.

Included on Starter, Pro and Unlimited. No per-signature fees.

How it works

From the job screen to a signed agreement

  1. Step 01

    Pick what they sign

Open the job, estimate, change order or invoice and choose a contract. Trusso fills in your company details, the customer, the scope, the price, the deposit and the dates from the record itself.

  2. Step 02

    Read it before it goes

You see the finished contract exactly as the customer will — every placeholder resolved. Anything missing shows as a dash instead of a silent gap, so a blank is obvious before you send.

  3. Step 03

    The customer signs

They get an email with a signing link and sign on their phone — no account, no app, no printer. You can require initials on the document where you need them.

  4. Step 04

    It files itself

The signed PDF and an independently verifiable evidence pack land back on the job. You see when it was sent, when it was opened and when it was signed.

The contracts

Five starting points, or bring your own

Adopting a starter copies it into your account as an ordinary editable template. You own the text from that moment, and later changes on our side never rewrite an agreement you have already sent.

Residential service agreement

The general-purpose contract for residential work: scope, schedule, price, warranty, changes, cancellation, insurance and disputes. The one to start from if you aren't sure.

Jobs and estimates

Work authorization

A short authorization to begin work at an agreed price. For same-day and small jobs where a full agreement is more paperwork than the job is worth.

Jobs and estimates

Change order

Approval for a change in scope or price on work already under way. References the original agreement and states the new total.

Change orders

Estimate acceptance

Turns a quote into a signed commitment. Carries the itemized pricing and the quote's expiry date.

Estimates

Payment terms acknowledgement

A short acknowledgement of an invoice and its payment terms. Useful for progress billing and payment plans.

Invoices

Your own terms

Already have a contract your lawyer wrote? Upload it as a PDF and Trusso appends the acceptance page. Or write your own terms using the placeholders Trusso fills in from the record.

Worth being clear about

Our starter contracts are a draft, not legal advice.

The starters are assembled from terms that appear in most residential contracting agreements. They have not been reviewed for your state, your trade, your license regime or your project size.

They also leave out notices that some jurisdictions require by law — right-to-cancel windows, mechanics-lien warnings and contractor-board disclosures among them. That omission is deliberate: shipping a plausible-looking lien notice with the wrong statutory wording would be worse than shipping none, because you would stop looking for the right one.

Have a lawyer licensed where you work review your terms before you send them to a customer. Trusso shows you this same notice wherever a starter is offered, adopted or edited — not buried in a help article.

The details

What you get, and what it won't do

What's included

  • Send from any job, estimate, change order or invoice
  • Five starter contracts you can adopt and edit as your own
  • Or upload your own terms as a PDF — Trusso appends the signing page
  • Your scope, price, deposit, start and completion dates filled in from the record
  • A full preview of the finished contract before you send
  • Require initials on the document where you need them
  • Status on the record: sent, opened by customer, signed, complete
  • The signed PDF plus an independently verifiable evidence pack
  • Withdraw an agreement you sent by mistake, with a reason on the record
  • Requests expire after 30 days instead of hanging open forever
  • Works on phone, tablet and web

What it won't do

  • Charge you per signature or per envelope
  • Make you set up and pay for a separate signing account
  • Let a crew member send a contract — sending matches who can send an estimate
  • Rewrite a contract you have already sent if you later edit the template
  • Send twice if a send is retried — a replay returns the first result
  • Claim your terms are legally sufficient for your state or trade

Sent the wrong one? Withdraw it with a reason on the record and send the corrected version — the customer can only act on the live agreement.

Holds up later

A signature is only useful if it survives the argument.

  • Evidence, not just a PDF

Every completed agreement carries an evidence pack you can verify independently of Trusso, alongside a checksum of the signed document. If an agreement is ever questioned, the proof does not depend on us vouching for it.

  • A snapshot, not a live document

What the customer signed is frozen at the moment you sent it. Editing a template afterwards, or changing the customer's details, never rewrites an agreement that already went out.

  • Change orders that reference reality

A change order states what changed and the revised total, and points back at the agreement it replaces — so mid-job scope changes end up on the record instead of in a text thread.

Setup

Nothing to connect, nothing extra to buy

  1. 1 · Turn on signing

In Settings → Contracts & e-signature, tap to set it up. Trusso provisions the signing account behind the scenes and holds the bill — there's nothing for you to sign up for separately.

  2. 2 · Choose your terms

Adopt one of the five starter contracts and edit it, write your own with Trusso's placeholders, or upload the terms your lawyer already wrote as a PDF.

  3. 3 · Send it from a job

Open any job, estimate, change order or invoice, pick the contract, check the preview and send. The status lives on that record from then on.

Set it up and send from the phone in your truck, a tablet, or the web app.

Pricing

Included on every plan

Field service apps commonly leave e-signature out or sell it as an add-on, which means paying a standalone signing tool on top of whatever you already pay. In Trusso it's part of the plan — from $29/month, with no per-signature fees and no second account to manage.

Starter, Pro and Unlimited

E-signature behaves identically on all three.

FAQ

E-signature, answered

Which plans include e-signature?
All of them. E-signature is included on Starter ($29/month), Pro ($59/month) and Unlimited ($99/month) at no extra cost, with no per-signature or per-envelope fees. Trusso provisions the signing account and holds the bill, so there is no separate subscription to buy and nothing to connect.
What can my customer sign?
A service agreement, a work authorization, a change order, an estimate acceptance or a payment-terms acknowledgement — sent from the job, estimate, change order or invoice it belongs to. You can adopt and edit any of the five starter contracts, write your own, or upload the terms your lawyer wrote as a PDF and let Trusso append the signing page.
Are the starter contracts legally sufficient?
No, and Trusso says so everywhere it offers them. They are drafting starting points assembled from terms common to residential contracting agreements. They have not been reviewed for your state, trade, license regime or project size, and they deliberately leave out notices some jurisdictions require by law — right-to-cancel windows, mechanics-lien warnings and contractor-board disclosures among them. A plausible-looking lien notice with the wrong statutory wording is worse than none, because you would stop looking for the right one. Have a lawyer licensed where you work review your terms before you send them to a customer.
Does my customer need an account or an app?
No. They get an email with a signing link and sign on their phone in a browser. No account, no app download, no printing and scanning.
How do I know they actually signed it?
The record shows the agreement's status as it moves — sent, opened by the customer, signed, then complete once the final document is produced. When it completes, the signed PDF and an independently verifiable evidence pack are attached to the job, along with a checksum of the signed document.
What if I send the wrong contract?
Withdraw it. The agreement is voided with the reason recorded, and you can send the corrected version. If you fix a typo and resend, Trusso treats the corrected document as a genuinely new send rather than replaying the version with the mistake in it.
How long does a customer have to sign?
Thirty days by default, after which the request expires rather than sitting open indefinitely. You can withdraw it sooner, or send a fresh one after it expires.
Who on my team can send a contract?
Sending is limited to managers and owners — the same people who can send an estimate or an invoice, because sending a contract is the same kind of commitment. Setting up signing and deciding what a customer signs is owner-only, since that is company policy rather than day-to-day work.
Can I get a deposit signed for alongside the contract?
The deposit amount and the balance due on completion are placeholders Trusso fills in from the record, so the figures appear in the contract your customer signs. Collecting the deposit itself happens through your invoice and the payment methods you already use — Stripe or Square, plus Venmo and Zelle.
